Album DescriptionItalian organist Edoardo Bellotti plays music of the Italian Baroque, including his own transcription of Vivaldi's famous concerto, La Notte. Bellotti's program also includes seven improvisations, all based on the same theme, which serve as bridges between the composed works (similar in form to Pictures at an Exhibition). This is Bellotti's first American recording. He is well known in Europe as an organist, early music specialist and improviser. The CD digipak booklet contains seven full-color images of the Renaissance and Baroque paintings on which the musical program is based - paintings at the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester (NY). The Eastman organ on this recording, the only full sized Italian Baroque organ in the Western Hemisphere, resides in the Garden Court of the museum. The organ itself is a visually stunning work of art.
