"Back in the 1960's, from 11:45 p.m. to 12 p.m., Elena Burke, Meme Solis and Luis Garcia ruled over thousands of followers when they wove the most romantic dreams through the waves of Radio Progreso in Havana. That was a date almost nobody dared to miss. What a pity that many of those tapes were not preserved for posterity.
However, this CD consists of tracks extracted from tapes that resisted the test of time, both literally and figuratively. It includes beautiful material: European ballads; "Strangers in the Night" re-created by La Burke a la Burke (what would Sinatra think of this version, I wonder), and some "feeling" songs of the period in the unique interpretation and perrrfect voice of Elena, with the incomparable Solis at the piano.
The trio's theme - a very brief and haunting song by composer Ela O'Farrill - opens and closes the session.
Play it and Elena will soon envelope you with her doings. She's both a Circe and a most skillful musician. Watch out, she'll try to steal your heart."
