Product DescriptionElizabeth McQueen's singing has been equated to hearing 'Etta James and Loretta Lynn spliced in honey.' During her 10 year residence in Austin, McQueen has distinguished herself as a true musical force, releasing two solo records - The Fresh Up Club (Gravitron! 2003) and Happy Doing What We're Doing (Freedom Records 2005) - and joining the legendary western swing band Asleep At The Wheel as their female vocalist. Most recently she appeared on their Grammy-nominated Willie and the Wheel CD dueting with Willie Nelson.'I love the flexibility of gear these days, but I wanted to see if we could cut tracks knowing there were no fixes, no cutting and pasting; just takes and performance.' And so McQueen began her experiment: First she assembled her band - husband David Sanger on drums, Lindsay Greene (Seth Walker) on bass, Floyd Domino (Asleep at the Wheel, Waylon Jennings) on piano, Andrew Nafziger (Marcia Ball, Kelly Willis) on guitar and Jon Doyle (Asylum Street Spankers) playing sax and clarinet. They all gathered at Bismeaux Studio and then - they played. 'The guys were totally able to do it. I even got some keeper vocals on the original tracks' says a delighted McQueen. 'You can hear it in the tracks. There's a spirit and a presence that you can just feel.'
