Two CD collection featuring the four complete live NBC broadcasts from the Savoy and Roseland Ballrooms, New York from January to March 1940. The only existing live documents from the last phase of the Chick Webb Orchestra. Ella?s singing is always nice to hear and the instrumentals and solos are also of interest, especially those by trumpeter Taft Jordan and saxophonist Teddy McRae. The band also plays many arrangements by Edgar Sampson. 40 tracks total. Definitive. 2006.
