Good, But Reissue "Brighten the Corner!"

"The greatest Jazz singer ever applies herself to Gospel. It's great! There's only one problem with it: all 10 tracks are taken from the 1967 Capitol album "Brighten the Corner" (which had 14 tracks). Missing from that album are "Abide with Me," "God Will Take Care of You," "Let the Lower Lights Be Burning" and "Rock of Ages." I guess there were copyright problems in getting the entire album reissued under the "Spirituals" title. The Capitol album, issued on CD in 1991, is currently out of print. Capitol, BRING IT BACK!!! In the meantime, this'll do, or I suggest going to ebay and seeing if you can find "Brighten the Corner" being offered."
Ella's closer walk

"If you were raised in a home where gospel songs were the soundtrack of your life, then Ella Fitzgerald's "Spirituals" is a must have for your CD collection. What Ella reminds us is that it's not how challenging of an arrangement, its singing with style and finesse that makes a song meaningful. If you're having the sort of day where singing the gospels will soothe your soul, then this is the CD for you. Ella sings so that you can join in and take just a closer walk."
