Synopsis

Album Description
Raven presents two classic elvin bishop lps on one cd for the first time - juke joint jump and struttin' my stuff. With 77 minutes of superb quality audio and informative liner notes this is a must for fans of rollicking, good-time blues rock and southern fried funk. Bishop started out in the paul butterfield blues band before striking out on his own in 1968. Always an exciting live prospect, juke joint jump (capricorn, 1975) established his unique style of slide guitar with the sprightly single 'sure feels good'. His highest charting album struttin' my stuff (billboard #18) yielded the 1976 smash hit 'fooled around and fell in love' (us #3).

"Boy, does this bring back memories. Saw Elvin at Radio City Music Hall back in 1974. What a show. He opened for Dicky Betts. When Elvin was done with his opening set we all, about ten of us, just could not believe how excellent it was. We had come to see Dicky, but Elvin was a gas. What a lively show. I'm putting together a 60's & 70's CD collection and could not resist getting an Elvin Bishop album. It was so good to hear him that I bought another and will probably get a few more. This guy smoked back then. Might even have to take a listen to some of his more recent releases."
