Elvis Presley had a multitude of hits on his roster that became synonymous with both his voice and his name, and firmly ensconced somewhere at the top of that list would have to be his heartfelt delivery of "Blue Christmas... more »." On this Christmas collection of the same name, Presley's gospel influence, as well as his role as a swoon machine, dictate the material. Songs like the title track and "I'll Be Home for Christmas" might not have the same impact now as they did in the days of life during wartime, but Presley's voice can still elicit an ache or two with its delivery. Despite the fact that some viewed him as a sexual threat, there was often an innocence in his songs. That innocence shows nicely in "Winter Wonderland," while "O Come All Ye Faithful" is Elvis at his holiday best. Blue Christmas is probably the best of Presley's offerings of the season. --Steve Gdula« less

"The CD includes Elvis' most memorable Christmas tunes. I thoroughly enjoyed it."

"It is true that you can spend more money and buy another comp. with every Elvis Christmas song included. But if you're like me and prefer the traditional over the contemporary Christmas songs this budget release is for you. Elvis only recorded 20 Christmas songs during his career. Enough for two albums and one single. Of those 20, nine were traditional (eight are here). O Little Time of Bethlehem is missing. The remaining 11 songs were of the contemporary variety.
I'm witholding one star from my rating because they should have made this a 10 track release by including O Little Town of Bethlehem and his Christmas single release from '66, If Every Day Was Like Christmas. Nevertheless I highly recomend this release if you want just a little Elvis Christmas.

What's here is very good!

"This is a low-budget Christmas compilation. The first 4 songs are from his 1971 "The Wonderful World of Christmas" album and the last 4 are from his classic 1957 Christmas album. This CD has some really good songs on it, but it only has 8 songs. I would recommend that you spend a few extra bucks and buy the outstanding "If Everyday Was Like Christmas" CD which contains every Christmas song that Elvis recorded!"

"This is a good collection from Elvis, however, it's a little on the light side and you can more than likely find a bigger collection in one of his other holiday projects. The vocals are great, the songs timeless, it's just a really quick listen that leaves you wanting more."
