It is what the name implies--Elvis singing an unfortunately small cache of timeless Christmas classics. Presley usually knew when to embellish a song and when to let its melody speak for itself, and his recordings illustrate that gift perfectly. For instance, "Winter Wonderland" had already been performed by so many others that Elvis gave it a bit of his own spin. But when it came to huge hits like "White Christmas" or religious favorites like "Silent Night" and "O Little Town of Bethlehem," he exhibited restraint, allowing the beauty of the compositions to carry his voice. Of course, "Blue Christmas" will always be associated with him and his rendition here is perfect.
