Las Vegas Hilton Soundboard Recording From August/September
D.C. Hanoy | Athens, Georgia | 01/10/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)
"The soundboard recording of Elvis's closing night for the August/September 1973 engagement at Las Vegas Hilton. The first seven songs are from the dinner show on September 3rd, and the remainder of the CD is from the midnight show. The reason for this splitshow CD, is that these two segments are the only known professional recordings from this engagement.
5 Stars: I'll keep it simple -- This is a classic. You have to hear it to believe it. And you have to love a disc that has Elvis singing "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face"...LIVE IN CONCERT. NUFF SAID. -- Eric Cornelius 7/7/2007
5 Stars: I agree with Eric on this one! I love this CD and I'm surprised that it came out due to the nature of Elvis's mood during the show -- He's mad at the hotel for threatening to fire Mario, his favorite maitre'd. Listen to the "MYSTERY TRAIN/TIGER MAN" segment. He does a fantastically funny version of "BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER/SUSPICIOUS MINDS", then sings them the right way. Plus a LIVE version of "MY BOY" before it was recorded at Stax. Next, a couple of songs from 1971: "THE FIRST TIME EVER I SAW YOUR FACE" and "HELP ME MAKE IT THROUGH THE NIGHT". Last, but not least, MY FAVORITE version of "SOFTLY"...An absolute MUST!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, FTD for this concert! -- Steve Damon 8/27/2007
5 Stars: This may very well be my favorite concert CD. I love all of these FTD concert CDs, especially the ones that include Elvis's banter with the audience. It is very entertaining and helpful to see another side of the man who was and still is the KING. -- Alan, 10/31/2007
5 Stars: Terrific show by Elvis and its contents! We NEED more shows from this period!!!! -- Stephie 7/30/2009
