"These great Louisiana Heyride Broadcasts are essentially Elvis' earliest sessions. These have more energy and swign harder then even the classic Sun sessions. This is the only truly ESEENTIAL Elvis cd you need, especially for rockabilyl and swing fans. The driving bass is exellent, behind Elvis' Dean Martin-ishly influenced, and wild vocals. These same exact recordings are available on about a dozen different cd's, but this cd has the cleanest versions. Exellent and essential rockabilly music. If you've got a pompadour hairdo, and drive a 57 chevy and wear bluejeans with the cuffs rolled up, then you probably already own these recording, but if you don't you MUST get them now!"
That's The Way It Was

"I'll be honest and admit that this CD was an incredible surprise. Because the recordings would have been made in 1955-56, I expected the sound quality to be bearable at best (similar to the "Beatles at the Star Club - 1962" recordings). Instead, the audio is quite good, as are the musical performances, audience response, and Elvis' banter between songs. I can't say that I was there at the time, but if any CD captures the revolution that Elvis helped set in motion in the mid 1950's, this must be it."
