CD Reviews

Elvis giving a mixture of everything

""It Happened At The World's Fair" had plenty of fun songs on it, including "Beyond The Bend", "Take Me To The Fair", "One Broken Heart For Sale", and "Happy Ending". There's even the naughty little "Relax" song and the strong ballad "They Remind Me Too Much Of You".

"Fun In Acapulco" shows the versatility of Elvis with some Spanish thrown in the mix in "Vino, Dinero Y Amor" and "Guadalajara". He scores on the rocker "Bossa Nova Baby", which made it into the Top 10 on the U.S. charts, and some good ballads in "El Toro", "Marguerita" and "You Can't Say No In Acapulco". There's even some fun ones that kind of preview his future dismal soundtrack songs, such as "The Bullfighter Was A Lady" and "No Room To Rhumba In A Sports Car". You can tell he has fun with the last two, but unfortunately it would become a theme to sing corny songs in future soundtracks that were loaded with material like this.

Overall, two strong soundtracks. Both pre-1964 soundtracks, which is basically the cutoff year for Elvis' best soundtracks from top to bottom. After that, they take a downward turn and only a couple songs on each are very solid."

"I ordered this item for a friend. Before giving it to him I wanted to make sure that the quality of the CD was acceptable. So I listened to it. Even though I do not like Elvis Presley the recording was of such quality that I listened to it and copied it to my computer!!!

Here if I am allowed I would like to praise the Amazon service."

"The Soundtrack for Fun in Acapulco alone goes for 50 bucks from the Elvis web site. The quality is great, and if you're just looking for the music, this package is perfect. Fun in Acapulco is a very underated soundtrack, filled with the sounds of a tropical summer done up Elvis style."
