Album DescriptionBetween 1954 & 1956 Elvis Presley made a total of fifty appearances at The Louisiana Hayride. Disc one of this set contains seminal recordings which were made at seven of these regular Saturday night appearances. The nineteen tracks on disc one represent the most complete possible collection of Presley's Hayride performances. Featuring in the main songs from his Sun Records days, it also includes the later hits, 'Love Me Tender' & 'Hound Dog'. Disc two is a bonus disc entitled Rockin' Roots and features 28 original country, R&B & gospel standards which Presley covered during his lifetime & which doubtless influenced his musical development. These include recordings made by five of his Sun label mates, including Carl Perkins' original 'Blue Suede Shoes' & Junior Parker's 'Mystery Train'. Concentrating on songs from Presley's formative years, it also includes Roy Brown's 'Good Rockin' Tonight'
