""Moody Blue" was the last album Elvis released before his death. It was a huge hit worldwide after his passing, peaking at 3 on the album charts in the US and UK and going all the way to number 1 on the US Country Album chart and staying there for 10 weeks. It would eventually be certified MULTI-PLATINUM by the RIAA. Most of these songs were recorded at Elvis' Graceland studio. Elvis was poor health during these sessions and also apparently suffered from depression which affected his motivation. Because of this, Elvis' producer, Felton Jarvis, did not have enough studio recordings to complete album and ended up using some live recordings to fill out the album. Despite these problems, this collection includes several strong performances.
The song "Moody Blue" was also a Top 40 hit in the US but went all the way to number 1 on the Country charts and number 3 on the Adult Contemporary chart, before Elvis death. It reached number 6 in the UK. "Way Down" was released and moving up the charts just before his death. After his death it quickly moved into the top 20 on the Pop chart and was another number 1 Country hit. It would also reach number 1 in the UK and stay there for 5 weeks!
Despite its flaws, this is a very good collection and a must for Elvis fans.
