Though he is definitely best known as a balladeer, Emmanuel has proven time and time again that he is also a profound poet as well as a competent composer.In this collection, Emmanuel reenergizes classic standards from the 1940s and 1950s (and beyond) by mixing in awesome new arrangements. If you love vintage Latin rhythms such as Guajira, El Bodeguero, Falsaria, Pedro Navaja, La Bamba, Perdon, Suavecito mi Linda, and Amalia Batista, you're going to love this collection. Though all of these songs have been released by other notable artists, none have infused into the songs the flair that only Emmanuel can bring. The ballads (Piel Canela, Acercate Mas) are also worthy of recognition.The second CD has energetic remixes of several of these songs. They were remixed by well-known mixologists, and it shows! Just listen to the first track on the second CD. It consists of over 25 minutes of scorching dance music. The remix of Suavecito mi Linda (track 6) defies description. It just melts the dance floor with its pulsating beat.A truly outstanding collection from a most verstaile and creative artist."
