"This recording is great. The sound is vintage but clear and perfectly executed. The guy appears with a pipe like playing so easy, and surely it is."

"For the new generations Pablo Casals is synonymous of musical genius. But if you scrutinize for the existence of this notable artist, the adjective perhaps be not enough.
Casals was a telluric force, a real manifestation of the nature whose radiant splendor still permeates the musical scene.
Casals already had gained an enviable place into the musical Pantheon but when he had the genial idea of making the Casals Festival that worked out as a faithful homage in Bach's memory (his second bicentenary) earned him the most coveted epithets around the world.
Countless musicians (Serkin, Grumiaux,Tortellier, Kapell,Szigeti, Horszkowski, Joseph and Lilian Fuchs) extraordinary chamber ensembles (Stern-Rose-Istomin) and notable conductors (Sandor Vegh) were just a part of this titanic effort in order to preserve and actualize the love for music in Prades, that gathered people from all the corners of the world.
The level of his performances were always out of the standards. Since the first bar, his sound seemed to be an extension of his intimate spiritual voice and wisdom.
So, more than a legend, I would not hesitate to state Casals was the biggest and most complete musical artist of the last century.
Needless to say the priority in order to acquire this notable Cd that reveals just a part of his expression and sheer talent.

"These recordings were made between 1915-1954; as the other reviewer said, sound is vintage (about half of the tracks are from 1915) but not bad at all, with nice atmosphere, good acoustics and rich sound of the instruments; the "El Cant dels Ocells" from 1950 is particularly beautiful (I wasn't familiar with it until today) but all tracks are well worth listening. Great CD."
