"I've been on a quest for some good LIVE Eric Burdon / Animals music for a long time. I listened to this album recently and had mixed feelings. The band was great, the first four songs are in the studio and are really good with the exception of Crawling King Snake which is ten plus very long minutes and could have been left off the album or at least cut in half. Now the live stuff - The arrangments are decent but they won't blow you away. Don't Bring Me Down, Boom Boom, Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood are played well but I'm Crying just didn't get it.I've seen Eric Burdon and the Eye Band and the New Animals who turned out to be the same band. I'm not sure if that is who is backing Eric on this album, it sounds like the same crowd to me.
If the energy that was put into the studio cuts carried over onto the live cuts I would have given it a higher rating. Eric's singing is quite good throughout the album though."
Rather boring

"This is (I think) a bootleg collection of songs recorded for Eric's almost forgotten 1982-move Comeback. The studio-tracks are OK, but that's it. Power Company is actually a really cool song, but this version is the worst of the 3 excisting (the best one is the original version from 1980, never released on any CD). It's too slow, lacks punch and Eric's voice seems very un-natural... And Crawling Kingsnake! Just skip that one. Even if you're a die-hard fan like me.
And as for the live stuff... It was recorded at a club in Berlin called The Metropol in 1981 with a band simply called Eric Burdon Band. That means that this stuff is much, much older than the I Band/New Animals stuff. Personally I think the songs are too long, Eric's singing is rather boring and what the f... is going on with that delay used on Eric's voice sometimes!? But if you like this concert, you should buy the CD called F#ck Me! I Thought He Was Dead! instead. That includes the entire concert, not just some of the songs (like here). But if you're looking for some good Eric Burdon material, you should check out The Official Live Bootleg and an album called Live."
