Synopsis

Album Description
Following the release of a Suck My Deck mix by Ivan Smagghe, the Bugged Out series continues with the debut double-CD mix from one of the most unique British DJs today, Erol Alkan. Erol first played at Bugged Out! in London in the Summer of 2001. Already known for his weekly cutting edge indie club Trash which played host to debut gigs from The Rapture, Peaches and LCD Soundsystem, Erol was an instant hit with the Bugged Out crowd and was offered a residency on the spot. His talent as a remixer has also raised his profile, remixing the likes of Alter Ego, Bloc Party, and The Chemical Brothers to name but a few. CD1 Bugged Out mix perfectly captures Erol?s set as if at a Bugged Out party. Kicking off with Deep Purple's "Hush," followed by a rockin' dub of Soulwax's "E Talking" ? the mix features charismatic, electro from Steve Bug, DJ T, Romain Flugal, as well as an exclusive demo track from Tiga and Erol's own re-edit of Alter Ego's monster chart hit "Rocker." In stark contrast, CD2 Bugged In Selection is a late night trip through Erol's huge, diverse record collection. These are the tracks he may turn to at 5am ? melodic, melancholic and majestic like the early British prog rock band Rare Bird's soulful "Passing Through" or "Willows Song" by Magnet featuring Paul Giovanni, as well as tracks by Trespassers William, Imagination, M83, Justin Robertson and The Concretes.

CD Reviews

Two Sides of Amazing

"I picked up this album based upon a recommendation a few months ago, and though I do not often listen to DJ mixes, I love this dual album.

The first CD is just a great, full of great songs. However, I did not want to write much about that, for it's really in the second CD that this album shines. A bugged in selection is just amazing. Somehow Erol Alkan is able to take songs from a wide variety of genres and mix them together into one awesome eclectic mix of music. I can really listen to this CD and feel a wide variety of moods that few other albums project.

Overall, totally worth getting, if you're looking for another good mix or a strange (yet wonderful) collection of songs."
