Synopsis

Album Description
For over ten years, Esham has been synonymous with underground hardcore rap in Detroit, influencing an entire school of rappers that came to be known as "horrorcore". The most significant of these groups, Insane Clown Posse, founded Psychopathic Records ten years ago, a label dedicated to putting out the most hardcore rap in the business. Now, the two powerhouses of the underground have joined forces to present "Acid Rain", a greatest hits collection from the man who started it all. With beats hard enough to raise the dead and lyrics straight from the underworld, this album is sure to be judged as the greatest collection of hits ever from this master of horror. "Acid Rain" will also feature four new tracks produced specifically for this album, including cuts with label-mates Insane Clown Posse and Twiztid. After 12 years of innovating his own style, Esham has found a renewed direction and fire for his career in the rap industry, determined to present a gruesome depiction of today's wretched human spirit through the use of his trademark wicked imagery, all the while offering his insight on man's need for personal introspection and pinpointing the cause of one's lack of civility. A new era of lyrical brutality has awoken at Psychopathic Records with the arrival of Esham, and the underground will never be the same.

CD Reviews

Not wicked, not Unholy not Esham

"This CD is a huge disappointment to any "true" down for Esham fan. Esham has been a rap genius to many for years and years.. He started "Acid Rap" dropping wicked flows unheard of by any other rapper in the industry. Esham, to me, was one of the few who actually rapped, wrote and promoted what his true throughts and feelings were through the mic and his tracks. This CD brings poorly chosen chopped up tracks together to supposedly to tell the tales of Esham the evolved rapper. All tracks but the last 5, only last 2 minutes.. Only a portion of each song is there. The last 5 songs could be good if they didn't have the goofy juggalo Violent J all over them trying to vocalize in a terrible monotone screech. Don't get me wrong, I like ICP. But I like Esham too, and Esham needs to stay "Acid Rap" not Horror Core. It's fine to have a few songs featuring each other.. but the way it looks Esham will be wearing clown makeup and ... a 2-liter Faygo before to long.To ICP fans I can see how they might enjoy this CD. Hearing a new voice spit it with ICP and do it with clarity and talent. But to myself and many other Esham fans this album is terrible. The worst part of this album is Esham comes across as someone totally different.. He's not "Esham the Unholy" anymore now he's "Esham the Boogie Man" come on now. Not to mention he asks for redemption and basically goes against everything that made him who he is. Esham to me is truly a huge rap icon paving the road for many underground and mainstream rappers of today, now to have him say "I was just playin for the last 15 years, everything I rapped was entertainment and untrue" is truly disappointing to say the least.Anyway, I do not recommend this CD. It brings hacked up whack tracks.. Deafening ICP vocals on the few tracks that are full, and overall a bad compilation. I feel this album was a poor attempt to make quick cash, and sell Eshams name to ICP fans so he will be accepted by them. Nothing on this CD is down for the true Esham fan. It's like getting laughed at for being down for the wicket. Well I'm not a sell out, and Esham can stick it."
Far from his best

"Though this does have a nice selection of his work and 5 new tracks there are quite a few problems. First this is not a greatest hits its simply a mix. The tracks are cut about a minute short which really hurts songs like "No Fault Insurance" and "Would you die for me" since the third verse in these tracks were so vital to the story in the songs. They didn't even get the dates the songs were released right. Secondly the new songs are completley ruined by Icp's appearances. At least Esham came more lyrical on the new tracks then he did on his last release. Finally the last track "Redemption" is something of a painful experience since Esham claims to have found God! Though i admit the track would have been better if Violent J had stayed clear but i am still lost with what Esham is trying to prove here. I dont mind that he has dropped most of the occult themes from his newer material but "repenting" his sins is almost going too far. If he really has become religious then why bother with puttin on 90% of the album which is his old "devil" raps. If he is doing this as a joke or was forced by ICP then i hope he makes his money at psy. and gets signed to someone who will appreciate and not limit his creativity or censor his ideaoligy. I will still listen to Esham for his talent I just hope he knows what he is doing. He may loose a huge portion of his fanbase for this."
Times Change, Art, Hype, and Esham "The Unholy"

"Theres a couple things you need to know about this CD and Esham "The Unholy" alright. For one, this CD is made kind of like ICPs The Mutilation Mix. This is Eshams 3rd Greatest Hits CD and all the songs except for the new ones are cut short. So now you know. When Esham was "Unholy" was before Closed Casket. Just like Violent J said in his narrations.

Eshams BEST oldschool "unholy" songs are as follows

1) Kissing Bandit: Boomin Words From Hell

2) Devils Night: Hellterskkkelter

3) Homey Don't Play: Homey Don't Play

4) Living In Incest: Judgement Day vol. 2

5) Jaw Bone: Erotic Poetry

6) Hoe Role: Judgement Day vol. 2

7) The Reel Feel: Erotic Poetry

8) Kkkill The Fetus: Kkkill The Fetus

9) Freak Nasty: Kkkill The Fetus

10) Traces Of My Bloodtype: Maggot Brain Theory

11) Coming Out A Coma: Maggot Brain Theory

Theres a couple more, but it goes like this people. Times change, things become outdated with each new teen movie. Theres a couple of more oldschool flavour that is "wicked". I haven't heard Judgement Day vol. 1 yet. Those songs right there are the ones that sound get you pumped. Some of the lyrics to Tales From The Lotus Pod are oldschool Esham lyrics. For example that song headaches where Monox Boogie said "I cut the head off the devil and I throw it at you" ***that comes from the song "Headhunter" from Kkkill The Fetus. ICP completely remade the song "Wake The Dead" from Judgement Day vol 2 *** on Hells Pit it's called "The Witch". Twiztid used that lyric about "her mouth having stretchmarks", well that is from "The Jawbone" from Erotic Poetry. Blaze talks about "Jawbone" on a Dark Lotus song as well. Theres just little things here and there. But there is one thing you should know about oldschool Esham. Like Violent J quipped once "You could barely hear a rap with all that bass". *** Oldschool Esham is notorious for using bass. Esham had a side project going on too, it was called "Natas". Natas was like Esham's version of Dark Lotus. He had that one rapper TNT in Natas. Theres a lot of things to Esham. Acid Rain is alright, I'm not going to lie. It was probably made that way because back then everybody liked the beats and everything. Sure it could have been done way better but, c'mon now who we kidding ***when has a compilation ever been great? It's always missing your favorite things right? Times do change.

Esham "The Unholy" ***His BEST work after Closed Casket

1) Tounges (Great Eminem diss CD)

2) Dead Flowers (Enough Said)

3) Bruce Wayne

4) A1 Yola

See, one of these days that list might be outdated who knows. Theres no telling what the future holds. However I recomend these CDs you can't go wrong if you buy those.

Anyways, on the subject of Acid Rain. There are new songs on it. That is why you should buy it ICP wreck on that CD. Where Violent J said "I'm Satan bitch 666 God damn". SoopaVillains might come out soon, who knows sometimes stuff just doesn't work out and gets delayed or scrapped. I hope that SoopaVillains is going to be great. Hey Juggalos, and Juffalos, you know what, you might also like movies by John Waters. You might like Fritz The Cat movies, he isn't just the guy who makes beats for Twiztid. Where do you think he got the name Fritz The Cat from exactly? Fritz The Cat was a comic book and he has 2 movies out. Juggalos might also like GG Allin he's a psychopath. Juggalos are great aren't they?

You know there is a lot of things out there that people would like, I'm just glad it's underground so it's real fans appreciate it.

C'mon somebody have the audacity to say that my review on Esham's Acid Rain wasn't correct I can just imagine it now, how many people say that my review helped them out. SO IF MY REVIEW HELPED YOU OUT>>> SAY IT DID"
