Synopsis

Album Description
Eskimo Joe's Black Fingernails Red Wine is an epic, superbly crafted rock album, combining raw sincerity and unpretentious honesty with a huge stadium rock sound. From the haunting keyboard hook of "Comfort You" to the closing pianotinged melancholy of "How Does It Feel," this is the rare album that's a complete listen from start to finish. Eskimo Joe is one of Australia's most popular bands. Black Fingernails Red Wine (their U.S. debut) is a smash in their homeland that skyrocketed to # 1 upon its release (where it stayed for four weeks) and has since gone quadruple platinum (400,000 copies). The band has won three ARIA Awards including Best Single for the album's title track (and first U.S. single). Eskimo Joe has performed alongside such artists as The Killers, Modest Mouse, Muse, Lily Allen and My Chemical Romance and will be bringing their arena-ready live show to our shores this summer.

CD Reviews

This Aussie group rocks!

"This group appeared in Tempe several days ago in front of a very small crowd. Unfortunately I wasn't there but a friend was and told me to be sure and check them out. After listening to just a short excerpt from Black Fingernails, Red Wine, I purchased the album, and it has been playing non-stop in my car CD player every since. The group rocks hard and also knows how to put out a great ballad. If asked to compare them to other groups, I would say they were a cross between Tragically Hip and the Moody Blues. I predict a bright future for this terrific band."
Too good for mass consumption.

"These guys are the real thing--multi-instrumentalists, great songs. I saw them live at the Bottom Of The Hill, San Francisco playing to a fortunate few. See them while you still can in a club because they'll be playing much larger venues soon. They're definitely better than any of the headliners they've played with in the past. Let's hope the industry doesn't ruin it for these guys. I eagerly await the next album. Thank you Australia!"
