"This is not for the average MTV type. If you like music that is specifically formatted to sell an optimum volume in a certain timeframe to a certain ethnicity or run a certain length for the sake of a radio station's ability to advertise as many times as possible within a certain timeframe, then this is not for you. This is an ablum of extreme electronic minimalism/rhythm/noise from what has been one of the world's foremost groups to ever produce such a thing. This particular release is a collection of outtakes from 1986 to 1989. A mere 3 year period out of this band's 20-some year history. Hard to desribe this album, or the group for that matter. I know that "a bunch of guys with drums" is not necessarily the right description. Rigid perhaps, or even mechanical, but VERY warm. I would put foreward the idea that the group is often visually interpretive and impressionistic. The listener will find most works to be simple, but hard to memorize. They have times when they seem tedious but they still are fascinating sonicly. The rhythmic aspect of the group is not what you MAY be expecting. This product is pretty far removed from the Pop Culture "Beat" as we are typically handed it. The extreme media establishment's contemporary human eugenics implications seem to be hardly present. But in spite of this there is still quite a likeable homage to the African on the opener of this album. Oh and they're real quiet too.
