More diverse and important composer than I'd thought

"I had shied away from listening to Penderecki for years because of a few brief encounters with some of his abstract, discordant music. Having heard one of the tracks on the album and likening it somewhat to Arvo Part, I decided to sample the other tracks, and finally, to purchase the album. There is a broad range of music on the album, including some I would call post-romantic, some minimalist, and some of the discordant kind. But all of it is good and some is great. I was surprised at the depth and beauty of his choral writing. In short, I had greatly underestimated this important composer."
