Eudice Shapiro is Professor Emerita of strings at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. She is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and a former student of Ivan Shapiro and Efrem Zimbalist. An internationally renowned soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, and recording artist, Shapiro appeared as orchestra soloist under Eugene Goosens, Josef Rosensock, Igor Stravinsky, and Izler Solomon, and in chamber performances with Arthur Schnabel, Bruno Walter, Lili Kraus, Rudolf Firkusny, Jascha Heifitz, Darius Milhaud, and Leonard Pennario. Stravinsky s Duo Concertant and Divertimento were recorded in 1962 in Los Angeles, California and originally released on Ava Records. Foss String Quartet No.1 was originally released on Columbia Masterworks LP. Shapiro is a member of the America Art Quartet in this recording.
