"I found this album at a used record store, and popped it in to one of the disc players at the listening station. I was struck dumb. This was really cool! I had to buy it.
From what I've read from All Music Guide about this album, I was expecting awful vocals from Chadbourne. It turns out he can carry a tune quite well. His guitar playing is all over the place, from nice melodies (his version of "I've Got A Crush On You")to mad jumps and skitters ("I Talked To Death In Stereo", most of the other tracks). He also plays all instruments on his own "Ochre Ringlet" and "Don't Happy, Be Worry", and plays dobro on Albert Ayler's "Change Has Come". (What is a dobro anyway?) The other players take turns leading, following and pushing and pulling him, for they are skilled musicians as well, and the overall sound is nice.
I'm definitely going to lay my hands on some Chadbourne in the near future."

"He hasn't mellowed exactly, but this latest batch of musical madness from Eugene Chadbourne and assorted co-conspirators assaults ones senses with just a little more tact and refinement than usual. It's definitely an acquired taste: I like to think that's its soundtrack music to a very weird movie."
