"I did notice that some of the songs are repeated and I don't usually like that in a CD but they are different versions of the same song and they are all wonderfully done. I do intend to watch the movie as soon as I get a chance having already heard some great reviews of it from my family in Brasil. I love listening to Bossa Nova music and have several CDs from singers such as Laura Figi, Stan Getz, Joao Gilberto, Tom Jobim, among many others and I can garantee that if you acquire this particular compilation you won't be disappointed in the least. Sit on the couch by the fire in the quiet and sincerely listen for the complexities and beauty of Bossa Nova. Those who purchase this CD will be doing something for their ears that is rarelly achieved with other types of music."

"For anyone who has felt the sultry Rio heat, lazed on its beautiful beaches and has been seduced by the magical charm of its people, this album will take you there. Beautifully constructed melodies, haunting Portuguese lyrics(English, too) and sensual bossa nova rhythms wash over you like a tropical wave. For lovers of Brazilian music and the newly curious, this album is sure to please. Romantic, sexy, invigorating..., a soulful massage for the senses."

"I saw the movie a couple of weeks ago on cable. The story wasn't that great but the soundtrack rocks!! I've always been a fan of Tom Jobim and his bossa nova compositions. The arrangements of Deodato on this CD pay tribute to the master. Anyone who loves the bossa nova genre should pick up this CD. Now, if only I can take some time off to make it to Rio for Mardi Gras..."

Love in a CD of Jobim

""Excellent" comes to mind in this effort to collaborate Jobim's famous works of the Bossa Nova sound for this film. The CD was equal to the film's ability to transcend the characters by the majesty of the music that played in the background. Bossa Nova has become one of my favorite films of late, and the CD was a nice addition as well. There are some old standards here, but some very well done remixes as well. It gives you that romantic feeling all over again, and having been to Brazil on 2 occasions, makes me yearn for it all over again.
See the movie, and buy the CD. If you're a true romantic, you'll understand what I mean."
