Live in Rio, Deodato is back

"A true master of Brazilian Jazz Funk is back with this great concert, and he's back at a place where he seldom records at: Brasil.
Actually the concert is so good, that it sounds just like a studio recording; the performance is tight and fresh.
Deodato had been busy partcipating in different projects like the soundtrack of the Bossa Nova movie, arrangments for different people like Bjork, etc. etc., but he hadn't worked in anything for and from him, and this is a very nice surprise.
6 cuts in here are his own compositions (01, 05, 08, 10, 11 & 13); all of these were great hits in the 70's and here they sound completely rejuvenated.
4 cuts belong to Tom Jobim (04, 06, 07 & 09); that last one - Wave - in particular sounds superb here.
Then finally, he plays hits by other people like: George Gershwin, Baden Powell, Vinicius de Moraes, & Richard Strauss.
His team here is:
- Eumir Deodato / Keyboards, Compositions and Arrangements
- Marcelo Mariano / Bass Guitar
- Renato Calmon / Drums
- Torcuato Mariano / Producer
If you're a fan of Eumir's masterpieces and want to update your collection; get this one at once; also check another recent (2007) compilation called "Do it Again", there you'll find great hits of Deodato remastered."
