Just a great album

"This album, as a whole, is, honestly, one the of the most beautiful albums I've ever heard.



That sentence above is my review. But, to be useful, I guess, I need to add more. I have a very hard time trying to describe this music. Shoegazer, of course. There is similarity to My Bloody Valentine, but Love for the Last Time, I feel, takes Loveless to the next level. Blasphemy, I know.



This album just pours over you. It's a flow of often blurred, often crystal clear, intertwined sound. It's heavy while at the same time being delicate and atmospheric. It's not so much a wall of noise but a river. The heavy parts flow into the mellow parts and back organically. There are parts, like on the song Seasick, where the highs almost hurt but the underflow makes it work so well. The vocals go from being clear to indistinct parts of the whole unified sound. This music seems to have shape and form while so much of what we listen to now is just flat.



This is an album that should be taken as a whole. I've owned it for years and I still don't know the names of the songs unless I look at the album. It's something I put on and listen to all the way through as if it were one song.



I live in Austin and this is a local band. I kick myself every time I hear this album because I've never seen them live. I have a lot of music in my collection by indie bands few people know about and if I had to pick one album that I felt deserved a wider audience, I think, this would be it.



I'm just lucky I gave it a listen."
