CD ReviewsA refreshing track listing--but no real biggies... Daniel W. Kelly | Long Island, NY United States | 01/21/2007 (4 out of 5 stars) "This 2 disc set features a good number of 12" versions that have not appeared on CD before. Unfortunately, some of the songs are so obscure it leaves you wishing they would have uncovered some better known hits--and some tracks were sort of wasted as 12" versions because they aren't exactly the types of songs that NEED 12" mixes (matt bianco, animal nightlife, the christians).
Some track notes: CD1 2. E=MC2...big audio dynamite (never understand why the 'extended remix' is 20 seconds shorter than the original CD version!) 7. Lost Weekend...Lloyd Cole (exactly how extended is a 4:19 track???) CD2 1. 19 (destruction mix)...Paul hardcastle (this is a treat--I never actually knew this 7 minute version existed.) 3. sign of the times...belle stars (nice to have the 12" version on CD) 4. Safety Dance..Men Without Hats (this is NOT the original 12" version. This is a really bad remix released much later)" |
