"If The Unutterable was comparable to Live at the Witch Trials, and Missing Winner was akin to Dragnet, then 2G + 2 is Totale's Turns revisited. A truly Fall artifact documenting bandleader Mr. M.E. Smith's psyche during his concert tour of the United States circa Nov. 2001. What the listener gets is: 1) Some songs from the recent Missing Winner CD stripped down in musical and lyrical content to three minutes each. 2) A few weird studio tracks commenting on the state of commerce and art; the loud I Wake Up In the City + two mutated rockabilly/50's sounding songs. 3) A short and entertaining spoken word piece 4) A recasting and integration of some old Fall numbers into the new sound (the only version of The Joke I really like). 5) An attractive CD package designed by artist Pascal Le Gras. 6) Very good sound quality, and 7) A conceptually tight CD that compliments the Fall's studio work. This recording is another fine piece of work by a group that dares to take chances and sound different."
