CD ReviewsKiller Album T. Wasmer | NW Indiana | 05/04/2010 (5 out of 5 stars) "Short Review: If you like Rock music with seriously catchy lyrics, melodies, and hooks, purchase this album right away. There is not one bad track on this album, it kicks! If you ever get a chance to see Farcry live, do not pass it up, these guys are great and are very nice guys too! " All fans of melodic rock and AOR gather! "Farcry" challenges Nikiforos V. Skoumas | Athens Greece, Cambridge UK | 12/23/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "Put simply "High Gear" is the absolute melodic rock/ AOR album for 2008-2009. Yes both 2008 and 2009 offered great melodic albums but this is the king by far. The intensity of "Farcy" will take you by storm. The band features lead singer Mark Giovi ("Las Vegas Tenors") the enviable lead guitarist Pete Fry along with bass player John Leonardis and drummer Chris Ryan.
By the time the first song kicked in I knew this was amazing, that was until track 2, "Fine line" stormed through the speakers; I could not help but feel this is easily one of the best, or possibly THE best mid tempo melodic rock song I've heard in my life. An absolute drama of a track, the most devastating chorus, not to mention the most substantial lyrics you will find on a heartbreaker song; what's more, big guitar melodies and two guitar solos! (Needless to say I played this song 8 times in a row before being able to move on to the rest of the album). Every song on "High Gear" is a delight not to mention how developed the personality of each and every composition is; "Out of reach", "Love won't wait", "Talk to me" and the rollercoaster ride "Nowhere Fast" written and contributed by Jim Steinman ( that's right! the master composer behind the super platinum "Meat Loaf" - "Bat out of Hell" albums.) So you can understand how `approved' and `appropriate' this release is. Every fan of melodic rock should get a hold of "Farcry"; satisfaction guaranteed. A M A Z I N G ! !" |
