"This is a great collection. While they are not the original Capitol and Mercury sides, these sessions, which were done for Step One Records not long before Mr. Young's passing, are done much like the originals, and in some cases even better. "Wine Me Up", "Unmitigated Gall", "If I Ever Fell In Love With A Honky Tonk Girl" and "She Went A Little Bit Farther" sound so much like the originals that it's hard to tell the difference, while "Almost Dawn In Denver" is just a little faster than the original, without having a "rushed" feel to it, and at the same time, he sang it here with just a bit more feeling and emotion. "Just What I Had In Mind", "Goin' Steady" and "Leavin' And Sayin' Goodbye" are all classic Faron Young songs and sound great in this collection. The only faults I could find is that "Hello Walls" and "Alone With You" sound rushed... almost like Mr. Young was so tired of singing these songs that he just wanted to get through them and on to the next one, and I have to ask why there are re-makes of OTHER PEOPLE'S HITS like Eddy Arnold's "What's He Doing In My World",and Tammy Wynette's "Until I Can Make It On My Own" Even with its faults, this collection is hard to beat, and I'm sure you'd be hard pressed to find all, dare I say, even half of these songs on CD in there original recordings, so if you like the late Faron Young, this collection is the best one you'll find."

"This collection is the best and most complete Faron Young collection you will find on CD (unless you can afford the big Bear Family box set). This includes thirty songs on two CDs for an excellent price. The only complaint I have is there are virtually no liner notes other than a list of the songs with songwriters. There is no biographical information whatsoever."
Whoops!!!!!

"Don't look at this as a way to add some Faron Young to your collection. These are all remakes. And when he remade these in the late 1980's, he sounded almost nothing like he did when he originally sang these. The production is ok, but I don't know why you would want these recordings. No notes. Just a cheap package."
FARON NEVER DID A BAD SONG

"Faron Young never did a bad song he got better as he grew older. Sure these songs are remakes but he sung them with all his heart the only way Faron knew and for anyone to expect him to do the songs as they were previously recorded is absurb. I have been a Faron Young fan for over 40 years and was still amazed at the way he delivered a song. These songs are from Faron's heart the only way he knew how to sing."
