"I'd never heard of Johann Friedrich Fasch until last week, when I checked www.harmoniamundi.com and discovered this new release. I love Baroque chamber music, I love the oboe, and I've never been disappointed by a CD from Harmonia Mundi, so I decided to take a chance on this one. I'm glad I did. Fasch's trio sonatas for two oboes and bassoon are a refreshing change from the usual two violins and viola da gamba. The movements are varied and interesting, the performances are skilful, and the recording is up to Harmonia Mundi's usual high standards, very clear and close. If you enjoy the chamber music of Bach and Telemann, then I'm sure you'll enjoy these pieces from their contemporary, Fasch."
