CD ReviewsFor those about to ROCK! Justin Gaines | Northern Virginia | 04/12/2008 (4 out of 5 stars) "It has done my heart good to witness the reemergence of so many real rock & roll bands in recent years. From the East Coast (Brand New Sin) to the West (Endeverafter), from Austrailia (Airbourne) to Finland (Brother Firetribe) to Sweden (the Poodles), a new breed of bands is coming forward with a challenge to the wimpy, depressing alterna-rock that has plagued radio for far too long. One of the brightest stars of this new wave of real rock & roll is Sweden's Fatal Smile. 2008's World Domination is the band's third album, and it rocks like a hurricane! The band combines hard charging metal with a great sense of melody, resulting in a melodic hard rock sound that's like a cross between Motorhead and Twisted Sister. This is a head-banging, fist-pumping, shout-along hard rock album that's sure to please even the most disenchanted hard rock fans. I dare you to listen to songs like S.O.B, Primed and Ready, or Out of My Head without moving your head and/or singing along. As an added bonus, veteran melodic rocker Paul Sabu lends his songwriting expertise to the album, as does Hypocrisy/Pain frontman Peter Tatgren. World Domination is recommended for anyone who wants to ROCK. Period. PS - I got to see Fatal Smile perform live shortly after this album was released. There couldn't have been more than 50 people in the club, but these guys played like they were rocking a packed arena. Great show, and they were cool guys too, making time to chat and sign CDs after their set. " Euro sleaze glam metal Nikiforos V. Skoumas | Athens Greece, Cambridge UK | 03/28/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "Just like the "Poodles", "Fatal Smile" is another new Scandinavian group under the "Hair metal" banner. "World Domination" is their second release and establishes their sleaze-biker sound and attitude. Although the concept of the album is based on clichés (sex, drugs& rock n roll, etc) one can understand from the very first song that the guys are passionate about their music and they are not faking it. Blade's vocals are heavy and stylish while the production is not too polisher nor too raw; still the album in total does not have anything really surprising in terms of technique. Simply very good sleaze-glam metal in 2008.
"RockHard" Greek magazine (issue 29) gives this album 7,5/10 commenting: " `World domination' makes for a very good proposition for immediate purchase this month." " |
