CD ReviewsThis Album is a Jewel Ross Rudin | Brea, CA. USA | 12/07/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "If you like easy listening jazz, you're gonna love this disc. Throughout the early to mid-eighties, Alan Copeland (AKA: Weaver Copeland) recorded a number of albums with Mahmu Pearl under the name of "Feather." Mulege Day (pronounced Moo-la-hay Day) is a compilation of tunes from those albums, none of which, up to now, have been available on CD. The vocalizing of Copeland and Pearl is flawless and they are backed up by some of the best musicians in the business, including Victor Feldman, Eddie Harris, Peter Sprague, Ray Pizzi, Roy McCurdy and Luis Conte, among others. Copeland rounds things out beautifully on the Fender Rhodes piano. His arrangements of jazz standards like, On Green Dolphin Street, Joy Spring and Out of the Night, are first rate. Mulege Day and Gaviota, will transport you to a secluded beach somewhere in Mexico, while the light, breezy sounds of My Desiree and Gee I missed You Today, will put a smile on your face. Haunted Ballroom is Copeland's homage to the big band era and Mahmu Pearl's rendition of Passe, is a first rate torch song. Candlelight World is a great "curl up with someone you love in a candle-lit bedroom" kind of song, while Chen Yu Lips is as easy to just sit and enjoy as any tune I can imagine. This is not elevator music. Whether you're in the office, curising down the highway or just lounging around the house, if you like good jazz, this disc is for you. Just about every tune is a winner. This disc is one of the best kept secrets on Amazon, so buy it and enjoy!"
