"This is a powerful compilation which will delight "bolero" lovers. Argentinian born Leo Marini was one of the greatest "boleristas" of the famed cuban conjunto Sonora Matancera during the early to mid 50's. Leo's style is reminiscent of the great old time Argentinian tango singers such as Carlos Gardel and Hugo del Carril. In spite of that Leo chose to interpret the more suave, rhythmic and romantic cuban tropical bolero. Leo's interpretation of old bolero classics, many of whom were first sung and introduced by him like the rhythmical "Maringa", "Dos Almas", "Caribe Soy","En La Palma De La Mano","Falsaria","Historia De Un Amor", "Mi Todo","Dulce Aventura","Pierdo La Calma", "Por Un Puñado de Oro","Tristeza Marina","Vieja Duda","Yo Vivo Mi Vida","Lagrimas de Hombre","Cobardia","Mi Dicha Lejana" and "Cancion Del Dolor", were sung and recorded by many but sound best when sung by Leo Marini with Sonora Matancera. Leo recorded these classics with Sonora for the "Seeco" label from 1952 through the mid to late 50's at Havana, Cuba's legendary CMQ and Radio Progreso studio-theatres. These precious and historical recordings made him internationally famous and remembered to this day."
