"The Figgs have gone and done it again- yep - chalk up another glittering rock achievement for those boys. Stacked with smokin' pop tunes, Sucking might be their best record yet. The lyrical sensitivity yet sense of humor matched with rock-rooted artful songwriting makes for a brilliant product. These boys have done their homework and just keep getting better. (Great records must have been on the turntables at all times- Kinks, Elvis Costello, Stones etc) What is so unfortunate about the listening samples offered to you here is that you can't hear the entire album!! You miss out on consecutive songs like "gonna get out", "running in place", and "dance lesson" that make you keep reaching for the volume knob. If you have any doubts about purchasing their albums, go see the band if you can.Their live performance will knock yer socks off."
Another great album by the best band you?ve never heard

"The Figgs' Sucking in Stereo is the band's fifth CD and, as usual, their stellar craftsmanship shines through. The first track, "Opening Night" is the strongest song on the album and the obvious single. Other notable songs include "The Daylight Strong" and "Dance Lesson," both penned by guitarist Mike Gent, and "Reaction," written by bassist Pete Donnelly. Drummer Pete Hayes also contributes his customary comic relief in "Do the Bounce." The overall sound of the album has a more straight-ahead pop feel than past Figgs CD's such as Couldn't Get High (their strongest work to date) and Banda Macho. It features some interesting organ work from Jed Parish of the Gravel Pit (on "Gonna Get Out"), as well as a couple of guest vocalists. Also, Mike Gent's punk-inspired vocals and guitar work on "Dance Lesson" will make you wonder why Capitol Records saw fit to allow this band to get scooped up by an indie label in 1997. This reviewer first heard the Figgs in 1988, and considers Sucking in Stereo to be one of their finest albums to date. If you are wondering if anyone out there is still making real rock n' roll, this album is for you."
Best pop album of the year!

"The Figgs have managed to put out an even better CD then the other (great) discs they have produced. This is the best, most rocking disc I've heard all year. If you enjoy hard pop music in the style of Graham Parker and Elvis Costello, but with the amps cranked up to 11, then you will enjoy this album. This band deserves your money. Buy it now! Actually, buy more than one and give it to your friends!"
