'The Hopeful Chorus Line' is an album that takes you on a melodic, broody journey; one which is as beautiful as it is intense. The songs weave in and out of each other-skill-fully drawing in the listener with poetic stories about love, loss, freedom and democracy. The Finishing School is a band from Adelaide, Australia featuring the incredibly talented sibling duo, Thom and Emily Combe. Thom and Emily originate from musical roots, introduced to the music industry early on by their father; renowned children's entertainer and songwriter, Peter Combe. They have performed throughout Australia and play regular gigs in some of Adelaide's best known live music venues. Violinist and vocalist Emily Combe fronts the band alongside Thom. She brings to the band classically trained violin and jazz voice from the Adelaide Conservatorium of Music. Her vocals have been likened to artists such as Tori Amos and Katie Noonan and her violin playing is both edgy and soulful. Thom is a truly eclectic musician; playing several instruments including lead electric, acoustic guitar, trumpet and vocals. Thom has also trained in Jazz Trumpet at the Conservatorium. Next comes Lyndon Gray who is formerly of The Audreys and plays upright and electric bass. Lyndon graduated with honours from the Conservatorium and is a very well known player in the Australian music scene. Andrew Gaborit completes the rhythm section, playing both kit and percussion. Originally hailing from Sydney, Andrew is a seasoned drummer who completes the sound of The Finishing School.
