"This is the best "influenced by the 70's" album!
Firebird is not a clone of black sabbath or led zep or cream...it's a lil bit of everything, smartly put together.
Of course those three musicians are talented in their own bands-cathedral, spiritual beggars and carcass(r.i.p.),but together they go a little bit further, they recreated the feel and the energy of the greatest 70's productions and add an extra soul to their work.
Bill Steer is an amazing guitarist, his riffs and melodies are filled with emotions and his solos just give the chill.
The rythm section could almost dethrone some of the best ryhtm section from the 70's, check out HAMMER&TONGS and its very YOU FOOL NO ONE(Deep Purple)rythm.
Steer's voice is quite soft and very melodic, sometimes reminds me of Mark farner or David Byron.
The sound of the album is very bright and clear, unlike the sound of most Spritual beggars's albums, and to me it makes a big difference.
Firebird 's music is closer to Spritual than Cathedral or Carcass-especially what they add the Hammond or the percussion-but defenitly more open, back to a power trio.
the timming of the album is also great...it's not because you can put 74 min of music on a cd that you have to.

"Firebird is a power trio influenced by older groups like Cream, Mountain, and Hendrix. They play music similar to early 90's bands like Badlands and The Cry Of Love. This album is much more dynamic than their self titled album before it. On their debut the vocals were buried in the mix. This was hard to understand as Bill Steer is a fine singer in the tradition of Jack Bruce And Felix Pappalardi. On Deluxe this problem was corrected, although on one or two of the tracks it could still be louder. That aside, the tunes are great, the playing is great: nobody out there is playing hard blues based rock like these guys. Plus the album has a heavy edge that the debut was lacking.
Can't wait to hear their new release "Number 3", but at 37 bucks as an import, I'll have to wait for the domestic release. These guys getted lumped in the so called "Stoner Rock" catagory, but the playing is much more accomplished than most of the stoner bands. So if your're into blused based rock 70's style, check Deluxe out."

"Deluxe is the second release from the so mentioned by me Bill Steer, this is a stuning album full of 70s concept, from the album title you realize what you can expect and you get even more, this unique nomenclature ,Carcass ,Cathedral and Spiritual Beggars, couldnt be more exciting than this. I have already reviewed the official three releases from this awesome ensamble and i have to say that this guys really rocked my world, Stoner Rock have been the best that could happen to heavy music in this new millenium, lets go for more
