Solid Dixieland by a solid group

"The Firehouse Five Plus Two made grand music in the '50s. Most of their albums had a theme; this one features songs about the South. Some are Dixieland classics, such as "Milenburg Joys" and "Original Dixieland One-Step;" others were not originally Dixieland songs at all, like "At a Georgia Camp Meeting;" and some are obscure tunes which are seldom recorded at all, like "Birmingham Papa." This is classic Firehoue Five stuff, with the brilliant core of the Firehouse Five in fine form: George Probert, Danny Alguire, Frank Thomas, and of course the leader Ward Kimball. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys traditional jazz."
