Good Things from FOCP!

"Let's just put it this way... if my house was burning down and I could only grab one CD to listen to as I drive away from the smoldering wreckage, it would be this one. These guys are so incredibly talented and IT'S ABOUT TIME they got the publicity and recognition due them! They never, ever disappoint with their thoughtful lyrics and beautiful music. It's downright soul-grabbing stuff... If you ever get a chance, check them out in person (hopefully they'll get to go farther from the Northwest soon), but if you can't, this CD is the next best thing. Be careful, though... you might find yourself torn away from whatever you were trying to get done, mesmerized by the incredible stuff coming from the CD player=) Five O' Clock People deserve 10 stars and four thumbs up."
An everything venture

"In browsing a popular Christian music catalogue, I saw "The Nothing Venture" in an obscure corner with a blip about it being produced by the same company as Beck, Tori Amos, and U2, all of whom I enjoy. Purchasing it has been one of the best music-buying decisions of my life! 5 O'clock People's unique folksy, alternative, and lyrical style reminds me of Jars of Clay and Dave Matthews Band rolled into one. Their blending of acoustical instrumentation and thought-provoking lyrics are a delight to listen to any time! This band is pretty obscure publicity-wise, but I would give it an A++ recommendation; it's sure to become an essential on your music list!"

"This album is chock-full of richly blended instrumentation, high caliber musicianship, a variety of vocal harmonies and lyrics worth listening to. The collaboration of these five musicians results in an astonishing level of talent and artistic integrity. The Nothing Venture is a soundtrack for life in a postmodern world -- sometimes times exuberant, other times reverent, and always full of questions. Very hard to categorize -- is there a category for "alternative folk-pop"?"
