More Glam than Goth

"Flesh were essentially a Glam Rock band. Their association with Goth comes from their association with the London Batcave scene in the early 80's. They did have the vampire-punk look; backcombed crow's nest hairdoes, pale makeup, black clothing etc... but musically they were full on badass Glam punk. The lyrics weren't very romantic or macabre (with the exception of Death Will Come), and the music is very much inspired by early 70's era Lou Reed and Ziggy era Bowie. A bit of Stooges in there as well. Of course these are all Goth influences as well. This cd compiles the bands early (and best) releases that show a very glitzy yet hard edged side to the band which would later be dropped in favor of new wave tinged rock on their more well known "Long Live the New Flesh" album. Thanks to Anagram's Goth label, who have also been re-releasing some long out of print Gothic masterpieces, for making these albums available on cd. Now how about some Inca Babies, Bone Orchard, Blood & Roses and UK Decay re-realeases??"
