"At first I was not sure what to expect from Fleshgod Appcalypse, a death metal band that mixes classical elements with sheer brutality. I've always enjoyed Yngwie and Stratovarius, but I wasn't sure how these two styles would mix. I couldn't be more impressed with the result. Fleshgod is first and foremost a death metal band at the top of their game. If I had to compare them to anyone, I would say Deicide, but Fleshgod are more than capable of carving their own path. The classical music elements are definitely present, both in piano and vocal interludes as well as the scales used during the actual songs, but they only enhance the overall effect of the music. If you are even slightly considering purchasing this album, I say go for it. If you like death metal, you won't be disappointed."

"Fleshgod Apocalypse came out of nowhere for me. This Italian band mixes technicality with melody seamlessly. This is nothing like many of their American tech-death counterparts who seem to focus on form over substance (i.e. playing terrible music really, really fast). Nearly every riff is immediately recognizable as music (shocking!), but still extremely technical. For this reason (and the many classical interludes), many people are aptly describing this band as having heavy classical influence. Another thing worthy of note: many of the songs seem to flow right into one another as would a classical symphony if it were comprised of ten movements played by some very angry people. Even in the context of music theory, these songs are closer to a classical style of composition as opposed to the more typical "metal" approach.



Attempting to list standout tracks is completely futile as nearly every song on this album is extraordinary. Get the album and thank me for recommending it."

"This is BRUTAL. The drumming will rattle your chest and knock your fillings loose. Is this guy for real? The double bass is just unholy, with blastbeats to match. This band makes me think of a cross between Vital Remains and Origin, but with some classical influence thrown in as well. Interesting, and it really adds some originality to their sound. These guys are masters of brutality. Seriously, you're not gonna find anything more brutal than this. Listen to this loud on a good sound system and you may not survive. We're talking brain hemorrhage here. I don't see how they do it. Oh, and the music is actually interesting too."
