Flight 180: The Christian No Doubt

"A few weeks ago, a friend and I were shopping when we found this CD. I was broke and she still wanted to shop. So I said, "Okay, why don't we go listen to music." So she's like, "okay, whatever." So as we were browsing through the CD section I found this CD. I turned it on and fell in love. It was so great. It sounded just like any other girl-lead rock band. Except for the fact that it had no profanity or crude material in it. It talked about looking at your heart and examining soul. It talked about being whole. This band is the next No Doubt."

"The "true sophomore follow up" to their BEC debut "Crackerjack", this album sets the record straight that no, Flight 180 has not turned into a swing band, but they are unleashing some of their best material yet! With their ska-rock sound, upbeat tempos, and sassy female vocals, comparisons to No Doubt are frequent. Although the comparison is pretty accurate, Flight 180 has a sound that is true to it's ska roots and less mainstream than Gwen and the boys. The album mostly seems to focus on teen-related types of issues from a girl's point of view. Songs like "Prom Queen" encourages girls to realize that there is much more to life than just material things, while "I Want A Guy" says that Mr. Right will come along when it's meant to be. The lyrics might give one the impression that the music is a bit on the "fluffy" side, but there is actually a strong rock vibe within the bands music not to mention some serious crowd-surfing ska! Unfortunately though, I think the fact that since a lot of the music concentrates on things like wanting a boyfriend, not getting a boyfriend, and other issues young girls face, the audience that will actually appreciate the band's music will be limited. However, if you can get past the lyrics, the sweet hooks and power pop attitude are impressive. If you like bands like No Doubt or The Dancehall Crashers, Flight 180 is right up your alley."
Excellent cross between GoGos and Jimmy Eat World

"This is one of the better bands that I have heard in the Christian realm. The lyrics are a bit on the candied side and are obviously written by the female lead singer as the other reviewers point out. But musically this is one of the better albums available out there. It is a lot of fun to listen to, and one of the more inventive albums out there. This is just plain fun music. I am not even remotely a fan of ska, but I really love this, I would highly recommend this to any Christian music fan. Some of the songs are not as good as others, but overall this is a solid album."
