Album DescriptionWe're excited to announce the release of a Candle Records Compilation with a difference. Flipside features 10 songs by Candle acts, remixed by artists of their choice. A collection of great songs being reinterpreted and rearranged, rather than your typical remix album, Flipside has been 9 months in the making, and we're extremely proud of the result. Ruck Rover kick off the compilation with one of the more energetic tracks, a wonderful merging of two of their songs 'The Motor Scooter' & 'Why Don't The Poor Take Up Tennis' to form the infectious `Wealth, Fame & Happiness.' J. Walker from Machine Translations lends his trademark sound to Anthony Atkinson's `Break In The Weather.' `Coffin' from Richard Easton's latest album gets re-energized by Phil Romeril from The Small Knives. Jodi Phillis' gentle acoustic `Leaves' from `In Dreams I Live', now with the full band arrangement. `Siamese Couplets' from The Guild League gets the cut `n' paste treatment from Melbourne's Two4K. Golden Rough's wonderful `Provenance' is now heavily filtered with vocoder vocals. Qua turns Darren Hanlon's amazing `Falling Aeroplanes' into a gorgeous string symphony. Isnod gives a music box delicacy to Tim Oxley's beautiful `Weeping In Love.' Pipas from the UK do an amazing pop-tastic version of The Lucksmiths' `How To Tie A Tie'. The epic closing track `Shifting Sands' by The Mabels originally featured on one their 7inch singles. `Flipside' highlights the strengths of the songwriters on the label and even with the new collaborations the songs are still the stars.
