Floyd Lloyd's latest dynamite release "OUR WORLD" with Ernest Ranglin is now out on the Tropic Entertainment label. This double CD is a wonderful mix of reggae, rocksteady and ska with jazzy brass overtones. It features the talents of bass man Mikey Chung, trombonists Vin Gordon and Rico Rodriguez, Jamaica's #1 drummer Derrick Stewart, percussionist Larry McDonald, New Orlean's trumpeter Tex Liuzza, and Hugh Francis and Eddie Grant's guitar playing on the rock-reggae song "You're For Real". Ernest Ranglin plays on all but a few of this abundant 33 track collection, co-writing and arranging several tracks with Floyd Lloyd. The Mighty Diamonds' hit "Sweet Lady", written by Floyd in the eighties, is another bonus for fans who have followed his career. Cover versions include the standards, "I Get A Kick Out of You" and "Paper Moon", as well as the popular songs, "Let It Be Me", Van Morrison's "Moondance", and Colonel Abrams' "Trapped". This is an album for serious collectors who appreciate the colorful and intricate arrangements of Floyd Lloyd, combined with Mr. Ranglin's renown and skilful guitar.
