CD Reviews

Probably their best....

"overall. Start to finish this was a strong effort by Foghat."Drivin' Wheel", a rockin version of "Take Me To the River" that would do Al Green proud, "Burnin' the Midnight Oil", "I'll Be Standing By" and the title track are all standouts here. I happened to see them in concert in support of this release in late '76 and was very impressed, not only by the band's high energy show but by the songs from this LP. Not a weak tune on it. Should be in the collection of any true Foghat fan."
Why I won't touch this one

"Drivin' Wheel is the best song on Night Shift. It was easily my favorite track. It was originally longer than the 4:29 version you see most places. I haven't looked it up on my LP but I think the original version is 5:11. I think the 4:29 version was the 45rpm record that played in jukeboxes. I want the original. I am not disappointed that some kid, who probably didn't know the difference, included it on a Remastered release of all things. I am disappointed in the Foghat representative who must have signed off on it."
