"Being from Texas, I'm embarrassed to say that my first exposure to old time music wasn't until after I spent a couple years up in Portland, Oregon. Always an old time country fan, I never really delved into the roots, til I came upon the Foghorn Stringband at the Moon and Sixpence one sunday night. I thought they were fun, fast and sounded good. Loving the sound, I looked for other bands that could give me more of what I liked. I haven't found that yet, because these guys are one of a kind and the best I've heard. Caleb has this voice that draws you in - wow what a gorgeous voice, Sammy tires you out just watching him fiddle - man that guy can play (and sing). Brian puts on quite a show back there on the bass, slapping and sometimes looking like he's strangling that sucker! fun to watch, and I love the richness it brings and how he kinda brings it a little after the song starts, like starting up an engine. If Kevin ever offered guitar lessons, it would be an honor - and at the last performance surprised me as I hadn't heard him sing before. Nice! And the Reverend PT Grover, I like his style - he plays like he was born with a banjo in is arms. Together these guys can play and harmonize like nobody's business, and this music just makes you want to get up and dance! These guys have opened up a world of music for me, for which I'll always be grateful. If you ever get a chance to see them in person, do it. Until then, get this cd! p.s. www.foghornstringband.com"
