Don't be put off by the Christian thing--this is a great CD

"I'm far from being a fan of Christian music, and I love this CD (and Merge and The Lost Elephant). I didn't think the lyrics were that in-your-face Christian. Admittedly, I've not read the lyrics, and I'm embarrassed to say that I've caught only bits and pieces of the lyrics. I listen to a lot of stuff like Iron Maiden and Iced Earth, so I'm not totally unused to listening for lyrics, but I've never really gotten a good handle on the FLNL lyrics. I didn't even realize that they were a Christian band until I started reading reviews. I probably wouldn't have given them a chance if I'd known, but it's too late now. They're much more than a Nirvana clone--I've gotten a lot more play time out of the FLNL CDs than Nirvana's. There's a great mix of high energy and emotion throughout. The vocals are excellent--ranging from soft and melodic, to raw shouting. The songs are not simple, linear pieces, but contain multiple aspects/melodies separated by bridges, sometimes yielding an oddly disjointed sound (in a good, creative way). There's a lot of interesting sound packed in each track--distortion and unusual guitar work adding to the energy of the piece."
From a FLNL fan

"It is hard for me to say this, being I am a HUGE FLNL fan, but this album (by far) is their worst. It doesn't have the edge that Merge had, and you can tell the band was having problems when they put this one together. It sounds rushed, and the originality and feeling the first album had is not found here. Still, it's an ok album, but for the first time FLNL seeker... buy Merge. Their latest album (Eliphants) is a return to their former glory."
