"Opal records has released a cd, "Francesco Tamagno:Complete Recordings". The transfers are superb, but these recordings were made after Signor Tamango had effectively retired from performing due to chronic heart disease, and must be evaluated with that in mind. Even so, his phrasing is masterful and the voice is still magnificent. He is remembered as the man who first sang Verdi's "Otello", learning the role with the Maestro's supervision. One can imagine Tamagno singing the "Esultate!" to the adulation of audiences worldwide. There are in existance a number of additional unpublished recordings which do not appear on this collection, yet for the opera afficionado who desires to experience the artistry of Francesco Tamagno, this cd is essential."
