"Not being with a major label really agrees with FD. The first indication of this was the wonderful "Man" CD and now we have "The Gulley Flats Boys", 2 CDs packed with one fine song after another. Accompanied by David Sancious on keys and Dorie Jackson on backing vocals, Francis reflects on the journey to middle-age. There are some truly beautiful pieces here, "My Father's Eyes" being the centerpiece. "Soldier", the song which kicks off the first disc, is instantly likable and will, along with many others, stay in your head. One thing you can say about Francis Dunnery is that he's consistant, consistantly excellent."
Good stuff

"I started listening to Francis Dunnery 4 years ago when I was a music columnist for the Portland Phoenix. Of all the CDs I used to get, his work really stuck out. This summer I heard a new track on Acoustic Cafe and recognized him right away. I bought the CD as soon as I got home. It does not dissapoint. I even went back and listened to his former CDs and really prefer this one. He turns the amperage down, adds some beautiful jazz piano and arrangements underneith his always soulful, keeping-it-real lyrics for some really nice songs. I played it for my girlfriend and now the CD is in her car and she's also loving it. You'll be glad you discovered this CD and won't regret having bought it."

"I first heard Francis Dunnery when I was like ten years old and American Life In The Summertime was on the radio. I heard nothing else from him until a couple years ago when I finally picked up a cheap used copy of Fearless. I was kinda into it, but I didn't love it. I found a cheap used copy of Let's Go Do What Happens soon thereafter, and liked it less. Some glimmers of talent came through, but mostly it didn't gel. So in light of that I didn't expect much from this new album, but it has completely floored me. This album is an amazing masterpiece. Everything David Gray wishes he could be. Everything Pat Metheny wishes he could be. Everything Dave Matthews wishes he could be. So much atmosphere, so much harmony, so much depth. If you like music you will love this album.

"The Gulley Flats Boys may be the intimate diary of the masterful Francis Dunnery, but you'd swear it was about you. His ability to connect with people on a universal level is phenomenal. This CD is right up there with my top favorites of all time; sitting aside artists like Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell. Francis Dunnery's "The Gulley Flats Boys," is like a Christmas present you get after you thought you'd opened them all."
Dunnery never disappoints ...

"Francis is a master guitarist, no question, but with GFB we come to know the seasoned musician/poet. The sound is so achingly clear, the lyrics so intensely personal, it's not only an honor to be invited into his world ... it's a JOY!!
