"Don't know why, but this guy is almost unknown, even in his own country. But he's a jazz musician right ?!. This recording is everything but hard to fathom, since Avitabile's compositions are enticing and upbeat, especially Miss Laurence and Facin' Up. His style is not too punchy but he surely doesn't lack energy : it's easy-listening but in a good way. Moreover, his versions of In Your Own Sweet Way, Con Alma and Cherokee -three huge standards- show all the creativity and sensitivity you may expect from a jazz record. Everyone, whether jazz buffs or complete novices, will be pleasantly surprised, so just buy it and see for yourself !"
